Sandrart schließt hier nicht direkt wieder an den weiteren Text Vasaris an, sondern lässt einen besonders wertenden Satz aus: »Ma per tornare al proposito nostro, uscirono delle mani de’ maestri di que’ tempi quei fantocci e quelle goffezze che nelle cose vecchie ancora oggi appariscono« (Vasari, Le Vite 1568, Proemio, hier zitiert nach der Ed. Bettarini/Barocchi, vgl. Online-Ausgabe SNS, Bd. II, S. 22 [Accessed: 2011-11-04. Archived by WebCite® at http://www.webcitation.org/62waaFJWH]).
