Annotations
Für das Bildnis des Sencea hat sich eine Vorzeichnung im Münchner Codex iconographicus 366 auf fol. 9r erhalten. Die Darstellung ist wohl auf die Büste des sog. Pseudo-Seneca zurückzuführen, die vor allem in Rubens’ Œuvre eine prominente Rolle einnahm und ebenfalls Teil der Stichserie der 12 berühmten griechischen und römischen Männer war; vgl. Mazzetti di Pietralata 2011, S. 167, Kat.-Nr. 180/Corpus Rubenianum XXIII, S. 136.
