Es ist nicht ganz klar, welcher Künstler hier gemeint ist. Es könnte sich um den Bildhauer Simone da Fiesole handeln, ein Schüler Brunelleschis, der für Donatellos Bruder gehalten wurde (und mit Simone di Giovanni Ghini (1407–1491?) zu identifizieren sein könnte) oder um Francesco di Simone Ferrucci; vgl. Scigliano 2005, S. 316, Anm. 7.
