Sandrart zufolge diente ihm das Selbstbildnis Hans Holbeins d. Ä. im eigenen Besitz als Vorlage für sein Vitenporträt (vgl. TA 1675, II, Buch 3 (niederl. u. dt. Künstler), S. 249). Peltzer identifizierte diese Zeichnung mit dem Blatt in Chantilly (s. Peltzer 1925, S. 126, Nr. 67), was von Mazzetti di Pietralata bestätigt werden konnte (s. Mazzetti di Pietralata 2011, S. 173, Kat.-Nr. 248).
