Annotation
Eine antike Gemme aus Sardonyx und Achat, die das Bildnis Senecas zeigt, ist auch in Leonardo Agostinis Publikation Le gemme antiche figurate erwähnt; vgl. Agostini, Gemme antiche 1657–69 (Editio princeps), Bd. 1, S. 6, Nr. 28. Die dazugehörige Illustration auf Tf. 28 kann jedoch nicht als Vorlage für die Darstellung des Seneca auf Tafel ccc der Teutschen Academie 1679 gedient haben – zu groß sind die formalen Unterschiede.
