Von den 22 Modellen des Longinus, die Bernini Sandrart zeigte, hat sich keines erhalten. Der Bozzetto aus Terracotta (Fogg Art Museum) dokumentiert jedoch die Entwicklung von Berninis Statue (vgl. Kauffmann 1970, S. 100; Wittkower 1997, S. 251).
