Die Qualen des Tantalus und ebenso die Darstellung des Sisyphus aus der Serie der »Giganti« sind nicht mehr erhalten (vgl. Spinosa 2003, S. 286, Kat.-Nr. A122; Teutsche Academie 1675/Viten (Ed. Peltzer 1925), S. 414, Anm. 1224). Von allen vier Gemälden existieren jedoch Kopien nach Ribera, vgl. die Qualen des Tantalus und Sisyphus.
