New features in the edition (2010)
Visit the page of features added in 2011
December 2010: Direct links to entries in the “Deutsche Biographie”
If applicable, you will now find a link to a person’s entry in the Deutsche Biographie (German Biography) on a person’s page in Sandrart.net’s Index of people.
November 2010: Temporal filtering of people
Since November 2010 the index of people offers filtering by a temporal criterion. Depending on the available facts for a person, this filter is based on a person’s year of birth, year of death and/or years for which this person’s existence was verifiable.
To use the filter, please click the “Temporal filter” checkbox. The page will reload and you will see a slider bar with two buttons that you can move with your mouse to set the lower and upper threshold. Every time you change a slider’s position, the page will be reloaded and present the records matching the selected period.
You will find more information in the usage information for the index of people.

November 2010: Additional navigation options
On text pages in this edition, you will now find a new icon above the text which gives you access to new navigation features. When clicking on the icon, you will get links to jump directly to the previous chapter, the following chapter and the first page of the current volume. Moreover, there is a link to the page overview where you can browse through thumbnail images of all text pages.

October 2010: RSS feed for the new features
We have added an RSS feed for the new functionalities introduced on this page. To subscribe to this feed, simply click the link besides the image above.
In case you have not yet heard of “RSS”: it is a very handy technology for being notified whenever new content is added to a website you are interested in. A number of browsers can use RSS themselves, but if you use one of those who cannot, there are lots of RSS readers – many free of charge – available on the web, for Windows, Mac OS X or Linux and even platforms such as the iPhone or Android.
October 2010: Support for PND-BEACON
PND-BEACON is a simple harvesting protocol for localizing people by means of their unique identifier (ID) in the Personennamendatei (PND). The PND IDs for all people available as part of our online edition are now accessible in our PND-BEACON feed. This allows other websites to automatically refer to a person in this edition—as well as in a number of other databases and services.
As PND-BEACON is a comparably new format (Sandrart.net is among the first 50 projects to support it), to date no further applications exist, but we are sure there will be some very soon.
October 2010: List of recently added database objects
Despite the large number of database objects (such as people, works of art etc.) already available, new records are added almost daily. Therefore, we have added a new page (Edition information → Recent additions to the edition) that will inform you of new items.
August 2010: Direct links to artists’ vitae
The integration of a person’s text occurrences in that person’s database record is quite handy, but in the case of frequently mentioned persons, the large number of occurrences can be cumbersome.
Therefore, we added metadata that gives you direct access to the most relevant part of the text (usually the vita) for each artist. If, on the other hand, there is no such link in an artist’s record, it means that the “Teutsche Academie” does not contain any detailed information on this person.

June 2010: Display of Text Occurrences for Bibliography Entries
Using this website, you probably have noticed that in the index of people, the index of places and the index of works of art, all occurrences of a person, place or work in the text of the “Teutsche Academie” are listed directly on the page. Now we have the same in the bibliography: For any books mentioned by Sandrart, there is a list of text occurrences on the left-hand side of the page.

May 2010: Improved Display of People and Places
You may notice that we have reorganized the information presented in the records of people and places slightly. The most significant change is the addition of a list of related text occurrences directly in the record, similar to the way the information is presented in the index of works of art.

February 2010: New Method for Filtering the Bibliography
To make it easier to handle the significantly increased number of entries in the bibliography, there is a new checkbox that restricts the displayed results to those entries that were used by Sandrart by way of compilation, citation or translation when writing the “Teutsche Academie”.
